Pakistan imposed restriction on 88 new terrorist including Dawood Ibrahim, Hafeez Saeed, Masood Azhar and so many, in pressure of FATF(Financial Action Task Force). FATF is an intergovernmental organisation formed in 1989 to develop policies against money laundering and terror funding. Pakistan is in lot of pressure because of high debt and loans,Saudi Arabia also demanded 1 Billion USD as he has taken 6.2 Billion of loans from Saudi, one can conclude that their economic condition has became frazile. US also warned pakistan, if he could not meet the obligation of FATF they shall have to face more punishment.
Grey and Black list of FATF
This list includes the country who funds terrorist and do money laundering; FATF impose restrictions on such countries. In Black list currently two country are there, North Korea and Iran has International restriction on import and export trades. Putting a country into Grey or Black list is decided by 39 members of FATF including India, China, USA. Pakistan is in Gray list since june 2018, it could be in Blacklist but back support of some country like China, Turkey it is in Grey list.
What are the action taken against Terrorist?
Ministry of External Affairs of Pakistan has taken steps like:
- Freezes the Bank Accounts and Assets.
- Prohibition in Travelling
- Restriction on Buying Arms
Why Pakistan has not included terrorist list In NACTA?
NACTA( National Counter Terrorism Authority) is an internal Counter Terrorism Authority of Pakistan. Pakistan has not included the list of terrorist in NACTA, so there might be a chances that they can remove the sanction imposed. But for sure this is not a concrete step taken by Pakistan against terrorist.
